The bell rings. We celebrate. And we should. 💛
Finishing treatment is a moment families dream about from the instant they hear the words, “Your child has cancer.”
But the bell doesn’t always mean cancer is over.
For many childhood cancer survivors, treatment can leave lasting effects, sometimes for years, sometimes for life.
Heart problems. Hearing loss. Fertility issues. Learning and memory difficulties. Growth and hormone problems. Secondary cancers. Chronic fatigue. Emotional trauma.
These children survived something enormous. And sometimes, survival comes with a price most people never see.
That doesn’t take away from the joy of remission. It means our kids deserve more than treatments that save their lives.
They deserve treatments that protect the lives they get to live afterward, too. 💛
Childhood cancer research isn’t only about helping more children survive.
It’s about helping survivors grow up healthy, too.
